2009

Hello Everyone,

Here we are at the end of a very busy and surprising 2009!

I began the year here in Atlanta continuing my service as Sales Coordinator at the SpringHill Suites Atlanta Buckhead. First are some photos from around the hotel at Christmas 2008. Then we had some cool "functions" at the hotel in mid-January.

The first big event of 2009 was my Mom visiting in late January, 2009. We had lots of fun over 2 days. The first day, we went to the King Tut exhibit here in Atlanta. We then stopped by the SpringHill Suites to give my Mom a tour of the hotel. We then went out to dinner with a bunch of my cousins who live here in Atlanta, kind of like a family reunion. Some of my cousins hadn't seen my mom in 25 years. Bruce and his fiancee Lori were there, our cousing Laura, and our Cousin Steve and his wife were all there. The second day of my mom's visit, we started with a tour of Atlanta. This tour included a CNN Tour which was really really fun and interesting. That evening we had dinner at my friend Jerry's house. He and his wife Elaine made a wonderful dinner for us and they enjoyed meeting my mom after all these years.

It was emotional in March when Jose left our hotel to be promoted to General Manager of a Residence Inn at the Atlanta Airport. We had an associate meeting/going away party for Jose in mid-March. I took a vacation to Oregon in April to visit friends and family. The weather was absolutely beautiful. I spent a couple of days at the Oregon Coast with my friend Pamela, her daughter Megan and her friend Erica. We had a beautiful time-share on the beach in Seaside. I was able to see my friend Rafael who helped me drive out here 2 1/2 years ago. Took some photos with his wife Irene and their two little boys. I was also able to have a nice dinner with my friend CC and her son Victor.

We had a very nice Associate Celebration in May.

The next big event was a wedding for my friend Jerry's son Jason and his wife Amy here in Atlanta. It was a beautiful catholic ceremony and the reception was wonderful and funny, being held at a resort tucked away in a secluded part of Atlanta.

Off to my next trip in June, I made a trip down to Lakeland to visit with my Dad and Stepmom.

As most of you know, I was nominated in 2009 for the Marriott Award of Excellence. This is an award that Marriott gives to only 8-12 associates world-wide each year for the most recognized associates in customer service and team leaders. Unfortunately, I didn't win in my first nomination, but Marriott Atlanta does a nice thing and throws a wonderful celebration luncheon for all the Atlanta nominees. We had this luncheon at the JW Marriott in Buckhead in July, 2009. Here are some photos from that banquet.

On my birthday, August 26th, we had a bowling event fund-raiser for CMN (Children's Miracle Network). 8 of us from the SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn comprised 2 of the 11 teams of 4. Here are some photos from that CMN Bowling event.

A few days later, we had a nice dinner at my friend Jerry's house once again. My friend Jerry and his wife Elaine take such good care of me, they are true friends. Here are some photos from that birthday dinner.

On Friday 9/11, Jerry/Jose and I went golfing and it ended up being a wonderful day for Jose. He not only got his first Eagle ever on the par 5 5th hole, he then almost got another one by almost getting a hole in one on the 16th hole par 3.

It was very sad on Saturday morning 9/26 to hear from my friend Cathy in Cleveland. Our long time co-worker in Cleveland at the Renaissance Hotel, Susan Miller had passed away overnight on Friday 9/25/09. She had been the concierge at the Renaissance Hotel for 20 years and was actually one of the first Marriott Award of Excellence Winners in 2002. Her passing created a shockwave of emotion and sympathy from across the U.S. for people who had worked with her. Jerry and I worked with her for 4 years each at the Renaissance. I was fortunate to have seen her just last summer when Bruce and I visited Cleveland. Here is a photo from 2008 of myself with Susan
.

Finally, another wonderful event on October 24th, 2009. Jerry's other son Stephen got married down in Jacksonville. Her name is Anne and she is a wonderful addition to the Clement family. Here are some photos from that ceremony.

Well, thank you all for visiting with me once again for my annual update! I have a trip coming up at Thanksgiving to see my brother Jack and his family in Indiana. Then another trip at Christmas to Florida to see my Dad/Stepmom/Molly and Callie.

2010 will be a fantastic, busy year with many trips planned. I have arranged again to be a volunteer at the US Open golf tournament (as I did in 2008 in San Diego). This tournament is in Pebble Beach (Monterey) in June. Then in July, I go out west once again for my 30 year high school reunion in Oregon.
So stand by for lots of photos from these events next year.

Until we speak soon, I wish you and yours the most happiness and love this holiday season and please keep in touch. But to everyone, all the best and please write soon!
